Failed to enable network in wpa_supplicant configuration [RESOLVED]

If the wpa_supplicant file (/etc/wpa_supplicant) or interfaces file (/etc/network/interfaces) are  misconfigured, not only will the USB WiFi adapter won’t work but if you attempt to configure from Wifi Config (wpa_supplicant’s gui), you will get the following issues:

  1. “Failed to enable network in wpa_supplicant configuration” message
  2. There will be no adapter or network options available to select from (shown below)

Instead of spending too much time determining which portion(s) of lines of code within the interface and/or wpa_supplicant file is causing the issue, I just clear all the contents of both files then re-enter with info from my previous tutorial
