Add A Networked Printer In Windows Machine

Step 1:  There are many ways to add a networked printer in Windows.

  • You can go to Start then in the search box, type in your computer’s IP address, \\192.168.XXX.XXX
  • You can go to Start then in the search box, type in the print server’s hostname, \\raspberrypi
  • You can add it via “Add printer” option from “Devices and printer”.
  • You can open up Windows Explorer (not to be mistaken with Internet Explorer) and look for print server on your network (as seen below):

Step 2:  Once you select the printer hosted by the printer server, It will take you through the steps of obtaining your printer’s driver from Windows “Add printer wizard” (as seen in step 2-3):

Step 4:  Once the correct driver is loaded onto you computer, it will show up in, “Devices and Printers”.  Printer is now ready to be used, you can do a print test page from printer properties to test it out.
