Install and Configure SAMBA (on raspberrypi)

Step 1: SAMBA; a program that acts as a conduit between Linux and Windows computer. Without it, Windows will not see any Linux based print or file server.  Install it by issuing the following command to the RaspberryPi:

sudo apt-get install samba

Step 2: Open SAMBA configuration file

sudo nano /etc/samba/smb.conf

Step 3:  Within opened smb.conf file, edit:

[Printers]

section as follow (yellow highlighted text   reflects the changes that I have made to it):

samba config

Step 4: Within opened smb.conf file, edit:

[Print$]

section as follow (yellow highlighted text reflects the changes that I have made to it):

  • After edit save and exit out of the smb.conf file (ctrl + x, ctrl + y then enter key)

samba config

Step 5: Restart SAMBA by running the following command:

sudo service samba restart

-This completes the process of installing and configuring SAMBA on a raspberrypi.
